Welcome to The Flashcard Hub, my site devoted to flash cards (of course) and vocabulary learning and teaching. The flashcards are all:
I also run a site called Heads Up English, and offer a free weekly newsletter filled with teaching ideas, activities, and techniques. Take a look if you haven't already done so!
Why flashcards?Flashcards are an excellent tool when learning or teaching a language. The cards can be used from the initial presentation stage, to practice, to the end of the lesson when allowing students an opportunity to use and expand on the target language of the lesson. As a teacher of more than ten years, I've continually relied on flashcards in many of my lessons. However, I continually faced one problem which limited their use and effectiveness, namely the cards were always designed for kids and not adults. The cards looked nice, but were filled with cute cartoons and drawings... simply not suitable when teaching an adult class of mid-50 professionals, for example. Hence came the idea for The Flashcard hub. How can I use the cards?I've include a list of ideas that will continue to grow as the site grows. I've also put together explanations and activities specific to the card types available here. I encourage you to browse through the information, download the cards that you need, try, experiment, and discover the pluses for yourself! Is there any copyright with the cards?Yes, there is. The cards are available for download straight from the site, but no alteration is allowed. That means the name of the site and the design of the cards may not be changed in any way. In addition, you may not redistribute, repackage, or repost the cards on another site, nor transfer contents from The Flashcard Hub to any other medium. Re-selling the cards is of course also strictly prohibited. What's ahead for The Flashcard Hub?Check back often as I continue to add more and more flashcard sets, ideas, and even cards in other languages. Have a great class! Chris Cotter |
